Amelie was born among the Viis of the First, raised in the deep woodlands.
Light was not comfort there — it was danger. It devoured, purified, erased.Darkness meant safety.Amelie was very young when the Fae first noticed her. Even as a child, her aether moved in quiet harmony with the land, and that harmony did not go unnoticed in the deep woods of the First. What began as faint laughter in her dreams and strange lights between the trees soon became something more tangible. The playful Fae lingered near her waking steps, curious about the Viis child who did not recoil from their presence.She was too young to understand caution fully, too young to know that wonder and danger can wear the same face. When they beckoned, she followed — barefoot and trusting — drawn by shimmering lights and lilting laughter deeper into the forest than she had ever gone before. She did not feel taken. She felt chosen. And when she crossed unknowingly into Il Mheg, guided by unseen hands and delighted whispers, she left with them willingly, unaware that time and realm had shifted beneath her small, naïve feet.She grew up observant, gentle, and quietly stubborn. Magic moved around her easily, though she never sought to wield it in grand ways. Her connection to aether was intuitive rather than trained — she could feel imbalances in the land before others could name them.When the Scions’ wandering scholar Urianger became stranded upon the First, it was he who treated her as something closer to human. Under his patient guidance she studied the stars and took up the art of the astrologian, learning to read fate not as destiny, but as possibility. She walked between worlds then — not wholly fae, not wholly mortal — tending wounds, guiding travelers, and quietly caring for those forgotten by greater heroes.She served often at Titania’s side, loved her king, and believed without question that one day the throne would be hers to inherit.Beyond Il Mheg, she wandered further still, drawn to the sweet winds of Lakeland, where she befriended a soon to be chieftain and his wife. With them she learned warmth she had never known among the fae — shared meals, gentle touches, laughter that lingered long after she should be home. For the first time, the world felt small and precious and hers.When Amelie was crowned 'Twin gifted' she and Feo ul sworn themselves to the Warrior of Darkness' aid, repelling sin eaters aiding in Mt. Gulg. Amelie insisted she insure the safey of her Lakeland lovers, splitting their forces to bring more aid from Salim (The Stand in Cheiftan) to find them over-run with an infestation of Sin eaters as well. Pushing the corrupted forces back, as they thought it had all come to and end; a child's scream, both lovers leap...When two of her closest companions fell before her — souls shattered and consumed — Amelie did not ask for vengeance. She did not beg for power.She wished only:“I want to be with them again.”The First answered literally.The wish tore open a fracture in the boundary between reflections. It sought the nearest resonant soul-shards tied to those she had lost — threads that now existed upon the Source. The surge of aether displaced her entirely, pulling her across the rift.She did not travel through a gate.She was wrenched.She arrived unconscious upon the Source — fate diverting her path away from one obscured by void influence, and instead casting her along the patrol route of another. The crossing was violent, destabilizing. And somewhere within that rupture, other spirits were dragged across as collateral.Amelie did not know this.When she woke, the sky was wrong. The gravity felt wrong. The world sounded wrong.She had crossed a reflection.
